With over 30 years of experience and 19 coveted Guild Marks for excellence awarded by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers’, Rupert takes on commissions from his successful studio based in the Surrey Hills.
His goal is to produce contemporary pieces of understated style and beauty with a simplicity and honesty of form and proportion using outstanding British craftsmanship.
Much of Rupert’s work is made in wood, his acknowledged area of expertise. From the careful selection of this most natural of materials to its imaginative use, fusing the very best of traditional cabinet-making with modern technologies, he draws on a wealth of experience to produce the best possible result – timeless, luxurious pieces that are eye-catching and irresistible to touch.
Often he teams up with other highly-skilled artist-craftsmen who share his vision and drive for excellence in their fields of expertise such as precision engineering, metalwork, glass or stone. The results of these collaborations have been spectacular, many exploring opportunities for innovation in response to the way we live today.
Rupert has designed and made furniture for private individuals, museums and public collections worldwide with his work sitting comfortably in both contemporary as well as more traditional interiors.
When not out and about visiting his much-cherished clients, enthusing over a new project or just generally about design and craftsmanship, Rupert can be found at home with his family most often painting or drawing.
